A good nights sleep, at last

Yesterday I bought myself a large gel filled dog cooling mat and put it under my bottom sheet, bliss I slept like a log.

I'd seriously recomend them to anyone who suffers wth these hot stuffy nights

  • It’s still pretty hot in the UK? It’s hot here in the Midwest, but not as bad as when we had that heat wave a few weeks ago. My car is saying 91 F (32.7 C?).

  • In my area of the UK it is 20 Deg. C / 68 Deg F at midnight tonight (pretty humid with it and very little breeze available).  Not great for sleeping.

Earlier this afternoon, as I walked around the town completing life's errands and attending a course, it was 33 Deg. C / 91.4 Deg. C - again, humid and very little breeze.

The added issue; is that most UK homes, and many commercial premises: are more designed  / set up for keeping warm in cool and damp winter weather concerns.

This means a heat wave presents an uncomfortable challenge.

This is the 3rd UK heatwave in the recent couple of months - that is why our authorities issued an Amber Health Alert:

"An amber alert indicates that significant impacts are likely to be felt across the whole health service due to high temperatures, with potential for the entire population to be at risk. Non-health sectors may also start to observe impacts and a more significant coordinated response may be required."

An Amber Health Alert is also a reminder to those citizens with certain health conditions - to take extra care - as the series of hot days and warm nights can mean their body could be adversely impacted - hence, the additional potential strain on the health service provision.

Large areas of the UK will have an UK Health Security Agency - Amber health alert - remain in place for the next 4 days to Monday:
