It's hot

Way to hot, already my skin is burning, I'm having to force fluids, my stomach feels bloated and burning, I've got massive brain fog, I doubt if I'll be able to eat and I can't sleep.

Apparently we're all suposed to be happy and enjoy all this! I don't think I've even got the energy to punch someone in the face if they tell me cheer up because it may never happen.

  • Yes very, and hotter tomorrow according to the weatherman. I'm not a fan of this weather, it always has a negative effect on me. Everything feels more difficult when it's hot. I try to stay indoors, in front of the fan until it cools again.

    Give me winter any day...

  • Someone who understands, yay!! I'd love to have horizontal rain and to hear the wind whistling round the house. Everything is too hard to do this weather, I've had to chase chickens twice today as they escaped next door, they'll get their necks unwound if they're not careful. I was dubious about getting them in the first place, fearing that I'd be the one having to care for them and everything, it seems I was right and I've had enough, 've got enough stuff to do already without having to chase chickens before breakfast!

I'm feeling a bit better now, although I suspect i'll be worse tomorow as its supposed to be even hotter, I hope the heat disapears with the clear night sky and I can sleep.

  • If you want to have fun with chickens then place a few duck eggs under them when they are siting. Ducks are poor siters compared to hens. The fun starts when the ducklings first take to the pond. The poor mother hen was clucking away at them but of course, they were having fun.

That was one hen though, who was never bothered  by the cockerel again as the ducks used to chase him if he even went near their mum!

  • So glad you managed to sleep last night as there is nothing worse. It is forecast to drop to 14c over the weekend here. I think we all suffer with the heat and it was on radio Four this morning about the lack of government action to prepare for more extreme weather.

  • Two chickens have gone walkabout and haven't been seen since a caught them yesterday, the one who's left seems to be quite happy on her own, I'll give it a couple of day for the others to come back and then decide whether to keep the remaing one and get her a friend or get rid of her too.

I've always found heat difficult, but it's definately getting worse as I get older I used to be able to cope with it around 23-25.C, but now I'm finding even that lays me flat out. I think it's the fybromyalgia and the inability to control my temperature, I've been to loads of differnt doctors about it and had armfuls of blood taken and all the tests come back normal, I've tried a medical herbalist and she couldn't create anything for me either. I'm getting to the end of my tether with it, I might have to go to Lerwick or somewhere it's usually about 10 degrees cooler there than here.

At least I managed to sleep better last night.
