Anxious about travelling please help

I’ve got to travel 137 miles this Saturday. My dad is picking up a stair lift for my now disabled mum. Originally my brother was going but he’s now cancelled because he has a house viewing and is selfishly not going to cancel it. Unfortunately all my siblings are so selfish, my other brother is always claiming to be ill and in pain, so he won’t go either. So it’s down to me to go.

My biggest worries with this are

  • I don’t like travelling because I get car sick and constantly need the toilet when I’m in the car
  • It’s a loonngg distance – I normally only travel about 10 miles in to town
  • It’s a strange place, strange house, new people I’ve never met before
  • I’ve got lots of What If thoughts like if stuff goes wrong on the way or when we’re there

I don’t want to go but I’m not about to drop my dad in it like this. I have the one saving grace that I’m nothing like my selfish brothers.

But I do have anxiety and know that the above worries will haunt me until Saturday morning.

Any advice on how to get through this?

  • You’ve already received some great advice from O & O but I’ll quickly add to not read or look at your phone when travelling, as both can lead to travel sickness, so best to avoid.

And if you need the toilet all you need to do is say to your dad and I’m sure he would happily stop at a services. I used to have to ask my dad this all the time. There’s no shame in it and it’s better than an accident...

Good luck for Saturday. You will be absolutely fine x.
