Criminal charges

NAS79483

We are distraught  . My 26 yr old Autistic Son has been charged with a criminal offence . We meet with Solicitor soon .  Where can he and us parents get support from ? I don’t know where to turn ? It’s all a mess . This is after 3 years of waiting for a decision

In addition to Bunny's suggestions, you could try searching the NAS Autism Services Directory for relevant support/wellbeing services in your local area that cater to autistic people and parents. The NAS website also has a mental health section containing useful links to information and advice about a range of mental health issues including stress: https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/mental-health.

    Here are some other support services you want to investigate:

    • Samaritans: Call 116 123 for free, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
    • Mind Infoline: 0300 1233393 for information and signposting (9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday)
    • SANEline: 0300 304 7000 for anyone experiencing a mental health problem or supporting someone else (4.30pm to 10.30pm, every day)
    • Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM): for men 0800 58 58 58, (5pm to midnight every day).
    • Shout 85258: a free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone struggling to cope.
