I want to unmask

There's so much I want to say about this but I'm working out how to word it out on here. So, I'm just going to keep it brief and blunt.

I have been masking my autism for many years and I want to unmask. But I don't know how.

Please help.

  • Hi - you've done a few posts and if you are considering sticking around, it may be worth you giving yourself a profile picture and pseudonym. It makes you easier to spot (there are lots of NASxxxxxx).

As for masking - I've been doing for so long 50+ years, I don't know how to just stop. It's part of me. But I am doing little things. It is such a tough subject. I know that there are books and websites, but I've not looked into this much yet.

  • Thank you, SpikeyMark. Its a struggle I face every day. Its gotten to a point where some masking behaviours have become a part of my personality and I absolutely hate it. It has even affected me and my special interests which I don't do much of  now which I hate even more.
