Discharge from mental health hospital

Looking for advice right now as I have just been discharged from a mental health hospital after been under a section for 6 months.

I am struggling on my first night out of there even though I no it wasn't a good place for me. What I endured in there seems to have followed me and is causing me panic. I believed I was bullied in there and it caused me such distress will this pass as my mood is incredibly low right now

  • We have such a predeliction to hyperfocus that things that bother us can seem to much more massive than they really are. The truth is, at least from my perspective, is that the distress will stay with you for as long as you allow it to. You can dwell on it for the rest of your life, or you can accept it as a chapter of your life that's behind you. Believe me, I have life experiences that stick with me every single day. They might always bother me, but being able to think about progress beyond the past is always going to be valuable.

I think the best thing for you, now that you're free of the hospital, is to not construct your own confinement. Try to embrace the freedom and don't let habits that were forced upon you stick. Your priority is your own wellbeing, and you understand your needs better than anyone.
