I struggle a lot with loneliness and anxiety as an autistic person as I feel so alien like and that I cannot relate or connect with others and when I am with others its worse and iam struggling to deal with and just feeling exhausted from having a low social battery. Would anyone have many suggestions about all of this? Thanks
I get very lonely too. I only have online friends at the moment and I seem addicted to the internet at times.
Oh yes I can relate to this.My policy has been to trim friendships.I have once close friend and two or three family members.I think just go with your gut I find because I am a great listener I get people holding court and it exhausts me .

Thanks so much for the suggestions and the words of encouragement
I know what you mean
No I dont really think about accepting or embracing it, I guess I am not sure how?
Instead of trying to fight it... have you considered accepting it ?Less stress
I'm exactly the same way. (Apart from the lonelness, part, and I don't really have that much anxiety...) I have no solution for this.
I'm most happy just doing things by myself.
Hi,
Firstly, remember you don’t have to change anything about yourself. It’s about you gradually gaining confidence and not labelling yourself as ‘alien’. Social interaction needs to be a pace you are comfortable with. Maybe start with general interaction as a customer eg library, small shop and build from there. In the meantime, you could also try online chat or gaming as this is when you would like it to be, in the comfort of your own home and you can switch off when you would like. I hope this helps.
