Visit from Housing Officer

Today I received a visit from my council's Community Housing Officer, which I had been feeling rather anxious about. The purpose of her visit had been to discuss the state of my garden, which I had posted about here about a week ago. As it turned out, I need not have worried because she was lovely, and really put me at ease.

After inviting her into my house, she had gone to close my front door behind her. I explained that it would require some effort, as it had always been difficult to close since it was fitted towards the end of 2019. She promptly made a note of this and said she would arrange for the door to get sorted.

We then made our way into my garden. The housing officer made it clear that I wasn't to worry. She said she could see that tackling my garden would be a massive task for anyone, and she was most apologetic that funding for garden assistance schemes had been cut. As for the garden fence separating my garden from my next-door neighbour's, she said she wasn't too concerned about that. It was agreed that as long as my son and I can tackle the worst of my jungle of a garden, as and when we are able to, she'll be happy with that. Relaxed

Prior to the housing officer's arrival, my son had managed to make a start on the garden. Unfortunately, he was unable to do as much as he would have liked, due to our green waste bin getting full rather quickly. Our next green waste collection is in just under a fortnight's time, so it's a matter of waiting until then before any more clearance work can be done in the garden. This is something the housing officer is also well aware of and understands.
