Obsessed with my weight

I'm not sure if anyone else is like this but I'm obsessed with my weight! I check it daily and since drinking sugary drinks it's gone from 9.7 to 10.6 which according to my BMI check it's a perfect weight for me but I don't like it and want it back to 9 or preferably 8. So I've cut the sugary drinks out and am exercising like mad each day to get it back down.

I never thought of this as an obsession until today.

Weight is only a crude estimate of your health so if your drive is to be healthy then you should be looking more towards the body fat percentage, which you can calculate at home:

I'm concerned as to why you are chosing such a low BMI target for yourself. Was this recommended by a health professional or just a number you thought sounded good?

Just aiming for a BMI number without reference to a meaningful measure of health raises red flags of eating disorders which can be very damaging to your health.

If you are serious about health then get a consultation with a nutritionist who can use euquipment to measure your body fat and muscle percentages accurately and give you a diet plan that helps you shape your body in the way you want while keeping it healthy

  • My GP is pleased with my current weight. The weight I was before was close to underweight but it was still a healthy weight. I think it's my dislike of change that bothers me most about this, though I do have a dietician who I've got an appointment with Thursday and she's going to help me with this.

  • yeah weight doesnt work because muscle is heavier than fat, getting a low weight cold end up with losing muscle but yet gaining fat... meaning youd be lighter weight but your waist size would be double and youd lose any tone and youd look and feel fatter despite being less weight.

while if you lifted weights put on heavy weight in muscle, youd be thin despite being heavy weight, youd be toned,.... and all that muscle acts as a engine chewing up any fat making it so you dont need to ever excercise because your muscles are eating the fat passively
