Is he doing this when having a meltdown or is it more normalised behaviour for him now? Can you clarify when it happens, if there are any events leading up to it and what happens after the violence passes.
Also, what age is he and is he diagnosed with autism.
There could be a wide range of issues at play here so a little more info will be needed to point you in the right direction.

Recently it is happening more more with no “apparent” reason. For example whilst laying in bed. It sometimes happens as he is having a meltdown but it is also happening unexpectedly and spontaneously. After the meltdown passes, he appears to be apologetic but again sometimes he uses the apology to get close to attack again. Lately i have been letting him go to bed by himself and then he sometimes apologises in the morning. I am just completely heartbroken. I have support from a disability nurse who is working on a position behaviour plan. But in the meantime i am just tired. My son is autistic with learning difficulties. He is non verbal and has been diagnosed since the age of 2. He is now 12.
