My Favourite Doctor Left

I'm gutted. She's been my GP for about three years. Time was she spoke to my every day on the phone she even made time to speak to me when the doctors practice was closed.

What was great about her was she understood me. She never judged. She just spoke to me and treated me like a person.

Something no other doctor has done.

I phoned up the practice yesterday and they said she's gone and left a few weeks ago.

Truly I am destroyed and extremely anxious that I've now got to meet a new GP. I doubt she will be as good as my last.

    Wow - I've never heard of a GP being able to spend that much time with one patient. They are normally so overworked that they can only give a time slot of 10 mins that sometimes has to be booked weeks in advance unless it is an emergency.

    You have ha a most exceptional experience and one that should be cherished.

    Give the new GP a chance to prove themselves. They may not have the same bedside manner as your other GP but they are probably all you have now so it is best to find the good things about the situation and work with those otherwise you will always be dissapointed.

    Change happens unfortunately but if you can look forward with optinism and acceptance then it is less likely to be as dark as we often fear it to be.

    I was very lucky she was unique and very very kind and understanding. I thought of her more as a friend than a doctor and she helped me through some of the darkest moments of my life.

    I've spoken to my new GP on the phone she sounds nice and understanding but I worry she won't really care like others before hasn't.

    I really struggle with change. I should just accept it and that it happens but I can't seem to do that. I try to ignore it and pretend it isn't real and that things will stay the same forever. Pretty stupid I know but it brings me comfort at the time.
