Cola (sugar) Addiction

For a few years I have had a cola addiction. Generally I'll have between 6-10 cans of cola a day and only recently did I realise that it is contributing to my feelings of unwell, dizziness and constant sore throat.

I read online that cola isn't considered a big problem but I've read a few people have had it. I'm not sure whether to cut down or cut it out completely and just go to water. I read headaches are common if cut out completely. I did think about talking to my GP but doctors give me horrible anxiety so I'd like to deal with this myself, if at all possible.

I'm such a fitness freak since my mental breakdown 3 years ago, I'm a ashamed I let myself get so addicted to the cola. I'm hoping I will get off this and avoid any potential health problems.

Has anyone else had cola or sugar addiction?

  • I went through a period where cola was all I drank. Squash made me sick once, think it was an IBS thing actually but I blamed the drink at the time so went to cola. At one point I was having about 7 cans in a day and it was wrecking me. Lol. I was getting nausea, acid reflux, abdominal pain, dizziness and tiredness all day every day. Sleep was an issue at the time as well despite me being so tired. My bowels were also a wreck. TMI!

I cut down gradually and managed to get away from the toxic cola and started drinking more water. Now I feel healthier, I don't get acid reflux and I sleep properly. Coca cola is evil lol. Take it steady and cut down to maybe like 3 cans a day, see how it goes and go at your own pace. You can do it though and trust me you'll definitely feel healthier after.
