Cola (sugar) Addiction

For a few years I have had a cola addiction. Generally I'll have between 6-10 cans of cola a day and only recently did I realise that it is contributing to my feelings of unwell, dizziness and constant sore throat.

I read online that cola isn't considered a big problem but I've read a few people have had it. I'm not sure whether to cut down or cut it out completely and just go to water. I read headaches are common if cut out completely. I did think about talking to my GP but doctors give me horrible anxiety so I'd like to deal with this myself, if at all possible.

I'm such a fitness freak since my mental breakdown 3 years ago, I'm a ashamed I let myself get so addicted to the cola. I'm hoping I will get off this and avoid any potential health problems.

Has anyone else had cola or sugar addiction?

  • I worked for Coca Cola at one of their bottling plants and you got trained on how to handle the syrup concentrates - including lots of warnings about how dangerous they were for health.

Needless to say not many people working for the company were buying much for themselves, even at the price of a few pence per can for the "part fills" (slighly uderfilled cans that Quality Assurance rejected due to being a few grams underweight).

If you can, get off it for a healthier alternative and ditch the sugar and caffaine laden stuff.
