Cola (sugar) Addiction

For a few years I have had a cola addiction. Generally I'll have between 6-10 cans of cola a day and only recently did I realise that it is contributing to my feelings of unwell, dizziness and constant sore throat.

I read online that cola isn't considered a big problem but I've read a few people have had it. I'm not sure whether to cut down or cut it out completely and just go to water. I read headaches are common if cut out completely. I did think about talking to my GP but doctors give me horrible anxiety so I'd like to deal with this myself, if at all possible.

I'm such a fitness freak since my mental breakdown 3 years ago, I'm a ashamed I let myself get so addicted to the cola. I'm hoping I will get off this and avoid any potential health problems.

Has anyone else had cola or sugar addiction?

  • I’m not saying you don’t have an issue. But as a technical fact it’s not possible to be addicted to sugar. It’s like being addicted to air or water. Your body knows your need calories to survive, it either gets them from protein, fat or sugar. Your brain is hardwired to crave all three.

it’s just a matter of fact that excessive anything can be bad for you, even air or water.
