Which country has the most things going on for people with asd ?

To be honest I doubt any country is better than the other as generally we live in a money driven capitalistic world and little or no resources are provided for spaces where people can get together. In the Uk where I'm from we had absolutely no support at all this is going back 20 yrs though. Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if there was venues available for people to go to ..to jus be able to get together having socialisation with others with asd. I'm wondering about this as my son says he avoids neuro typical people who are out and about but would feel better going to a place where there are people with asd like him. I've seen a lot if documentary about these things but it mainly seems to happen in Australia

Maybe it happen in that country due to the weather ie they are more going out and not stuck in doors on a computer Idk.However even if you found a country that could provide a better quality of life for you that your current country can't do, I found out that I think nearly all countries now do not allow you to become a citizen if you have an asd diagnosis...but that's a whole other thing .

  • Yes it's ironic as you would think the smaller countries would be better ie they are safer etc but trouble with these countries is that they tend to be insular in that people there are only aware of what happens in their world there..where as places like new York all though they aren't very safe they are though full of people who are more open minded and less insular etc. Trust me when I say the UK is back in the dark ages as I born here etc..so if UK isn't up to it then the places which are even more backward than that jeeze. Thanks for your reply :) and good luck with your work.

  • You can strike Brazil off the list of options - while the weather is much bette and cost of living is lower, social attitudes are still decades behind the UK / US in terms of acceptance of autism as a disability.

Things are improving through the school system but adult support is still poor and social attitudes are stuck back in the 80s for many adults.

I suspect that living on a nice farm or by the sea could be a great escape, but that is not accessible to the vast majority op people, and the poor / homeless population have a very rough time of it.

Im engaging with a local autism charity to try to bring some fresh thinking, different skills and general manpower to help them with kids as they transition into the working world as this is where most support ends.

As for other countries, I think the US is better, especially the likes of Los Angeles which is very progressive. Some places like Texas are not nearly as forward thinking so in some ways you need to consider each state as its own country for the sake of your comparison.
