Hi,
I have not been officially diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, but have been told
by one mental health nurse that i am highly likely to be. She, after a huge amount of effort
has not got me referred to the local mental health assessment team to assess whether i need
to continue with seeing a mental health nurse. The first nurse i saw said that at this next meeting
i could explain all of the difficulties i was having and why i would like to be referred for official
assessment. As always when the nurse phoned, i was out! But she did say she would try to get
back to me. I have recieved the letter from the mental health team and i have to phone annd
make an appointment. Trying not to get nervous as this is another assessment by a mental health
professional and if they say no then that realy is an end to a chance of an official assessment......
simply because of where i live. When i looked at the cost of a private assessment i nearly started
crying! When i phone tomorrow I hope i don't have to wait too long. It appears that they want you
to jump through so many hoops. I hate being in limbo. Sorry for the moan,
K
