Face to face second opinion Autism diagnosis

Given that I’d had an online (initial) autism diagnosis in 2021 (via Zoom), I’m thinking of getting a face-to-face (second opinion) diagnosis which may confirm the first one - and then, to gain a proper and in-depth post diagnosis assessment (face-to-face - not online) to (properly) establish my level of autism and (properly) evaluate my support needs going forward at age 52 - having the reports sent via email is not the issue, it’s the fact that Zoom calls don’t allow for proper diagnosis

  • Is this on the NHS? Would they give you another assessment if you have already been diagnosed?? You are in for an hell of a wait.  Again, in the UK we do not get given ‘levels’ in most cases. It is simply reported as ‘Autism.’ Have you discussed with your GP what support you need?

  • I certainly can’t explain any of this to family in Ireland, who “shout and scream me down” over the phone if any of this comes from me directly by default, even though not my opinion and who are fairly insistent on what they see “what good looks like” as they want an intervention team, either live in carer or long-term placement to give the ultra-strict discipline they deem vital to managing this condition under strict control of every area of my life, according to traditional Catholic social teachings and are putting me under immense pressure - my first diagnosis (online) in 2021 was via the NHS and family simply will not accept that it is two different countries and an entirely different era, not like the priests and the nuns like it used to be - some family members are ex-millitary officers which explains thier belief in the value of discipline that was lacking in childhood from unsuitable parents where because of thier own childhood issues, I should have been raised by my dad’s side of the family after I was born or taken into care, fostered or adopted - one simply cannot reason with people who simply refuse to understand because of thier blinkered mindset
