Dear community,
It's happened a couple times that when in the presence of someone else on the spectrum, I feel automatically unguarded and vulnerable, and if it gets SUPER intense, through eye contact and close physical contact, for example, I feel abnormal brain activity - almost an out-of-body experience. A brainblip, a brain shudder. It involves a lot of shaking, like in a seizure, sometimes an inability to speak, an overload/overwhelm on an emotional level, and most striking of all, the sense that different layers of me come apart, lift, and settle back down into me again, all within a second or two. The repercussions are headaches, a sense of being overheated for hours, insomnia, and a feeling like sensory overload - but it's emotional overload. Like an internal traffic jam, accompanied by an inability to breathe properly.
It doesn't really worry me - I know that such abnormal brain activity that look like mini-seizures can happen bij ASDs because epilepsy is so closely related. I'm not epileptic at all, btw - and this has only happened a couple times. Nothing that would call for medication.
I'm wondering if anyone would like to share similar experiences? What exactly happens, with whom, and when - under what circumstances?
