Sources of Adult post diagnostic services in Manchester England

I’m looking for any sources of post diagnostic adult Autism support in Manchester England

  • Hi Kerri, I’ve looked at the directory for Autistic Adults in the GM area here in the U.K. (England) and most post-diagnostic (very limited) adult autism support appears to be residential in nature - at my age, while I could still continue working in hospitality for just over a year now after working for 30 years in supermarket retailing in both Ireland and the U.K., in order to receive the right kind of support for my level of autism, I would have to give up my GM council tenancy where I live alone, especially given that my extended family in Ireland strongly disapprove of my living alone and traveling longer distances over 20 miles without a chaperone given my diagnosis, even though I’ve lived and worked in the U.K. 20 years - if referral required via the NHS certain criteria such as GP health checks and vaccine passport records would probably have to be updated before thier proceeding - I’m approaching retirement age in the next few years, so having lost all 4 state and works pensions during Covid in both Ireland and the U.K. and other moves by the Irish government re property rights and retirement income is another big worry that is making my family in Ireland doubly concerned - a lot of changes have also happened since Covid and there is even less support for Autism in the Republic of Ireland via the HSE

  • Hi IrishinManchesterUK,

Have you tried searching our Autism Services Directory?  You can find it here: https://www.autism.org.uk/directory.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards,

    Kerri-Mod

  • Have you had any luck using Google?  Most things are listed online somewhere, but to be honest support for late diagnosed adults is limited.

I sometimes think about starting some kind of online support group using something like Discord, but I'm worried that there would too many takers and it would become too much.
