Thinking hard about dropping out

Has anyone thought about dropping out of society, I’m considering disappearing to try an live a simple life. 
How would somebody disappear in the modern world? 
what steps would you need to take make it successful?

    As a kld it was an underground place like in Gummibears. One I dug out myself.

    Now it's more refined idea: buy 1ha land in a forest, at least 10km from nearest habitation, put 2m fence with barbed wire around, build shack, dig a ditch for broadband cable, order everything online, shoot people entering your land on sight, live happily ever after, I reckon it would have to be Canada or Alaska, and I love cold, and snow.
