I have ASD and have a lot of sensory issues when it comes to bathing 
I moved into my house over a year ago and it has a over bath shower setup, I don't fit into the bath as I'm really tall and overweight and the bath is shockingly narrow and shallow that has been installed into this property (before I moved in)
I hate having showers as I don't cope at all well with the noise it makes, sensation of water hitting my skin also temperature fluctuations etc triggers me into an overload.
I asked the housing association who I rent off for a needs assessment and they had someone come over, telling them about my sensory issues and how difficult I find it to just bathe (going sometimes weeks without bathing and relying on camping wipes to freshen myself) they assured me that they would have someone come over and have a look at getting a straight edge bath in which would be deeper and all-round wider for me to be able to use it properly.
Unfortunately the outcome of that next visit was a resounding no. The man who authorises adaptions refused my request due to the OT also not deeming it a sufficient enough cause to replace the bath (the association have a time limit until you are eligible for a new suite around 10 years) I hadn't even had a conversation with the OT or the guy who authorises adaptions, it was all on what was relayed to them by others and not me. :-(
I do not know what to do? I am struggling to cope with not bathing, which is resulting in my never leaving the house or even having people over because I'm so self conscious. The only way would be to pay for the suite myself and have someone install it all for me but I don't have that kind of funding to back such a project :-( is there anyone out there that might be able to shed some light on what is available for those with ASD and adaptions to the home?
