ABA in UK; they are rolling out brainwashing in schools.

Hi there,

Sorry if the WakeUp tag is inappropriate, but we and our community certainly need to imho.

Noticed a lot of things turning up on autism reddit about ABA.

The slant of the government's Autism Act is to provide services to 'support' people with autism within society, not brainwash and coerce them to alter their behaviour to better match society's desires. It flies in the very face of the government's alleged and actuated policies.
Sure, if you hit someone enough, either physically or mentally, they are going to change their behaviour. But you are going to permanently scar them in the process if the behaviour is inherent to the individual on both a genetic and mental processing level.
It is, in my belief, no way the desire of, or to the benefit of, the autistic community to be horsewhipped into social compliance to their mental detriment; and far as I see it flies in the face of the government's stated policies regarding autism.
What the hell can we autistics do to stop this diabolical practice?
If this isn't stomped on fast we'll have places like America does where electrocution torture is used to instil fear of displaying natural behaviour.
Who do we approach to represent us in this? I'll be damned if I can find a way to contact NAS directly about it and see if they are bothering to take the implications seriously.

  • There is no mistake. He's peddling enlightenment, of a sort.

The issue that you raise is part of a much larger, more sinister, life threatening problem that some people are constantly discussing when they can find an area where they won't be shouted down or suppressed in some other way.

For those who have the perspective, it can be seen, we are indeed "living in interesting times".

To return to your problem, you are doing the number one good thing.

Getting it out to a wider audience. Alerting people. Expect mockery from your peers at some point.

That's just how it seems to go.

But you might also get some bright ideas and/or supplemental information.
