Need some help please

Hi guys I've just joined This an writing this for the first time ever as I am just pulling my hair out an wondering if anyone can give me some insight or just validate my feelings.  I have a toddler who will be 3 in November he is delayed in many milestones an I guess we can blame watching TV for that I have 4 children so my life is just juggling them all, his sister was also very delayed but she's doing absolutely amazing now an up to date to ' typical ' children but I feel like my son in question is nearly 3 but saying nothing his eye contact is not amazing either , but he does respond to his name can follow simple instructions,  an is very affectionate an does interact.  He plays with toys but doesn't hold interest for long he would rather run around and play im just worried also another thing to mention is that he hand flaps when his excited but its not a habit or always happening im just really worried id love for anyone to give me advice if I should be worried or just any advice or if u also think it may be autism would be a great help thanks

  • Most of that is quite typical for a 3 year old but you would expect them to be able to speak short sentences although some do start later, especially if they have been deprived earlyinteractions due to covid lockdowns. Are there any concerns for his hearing? Hearing loss can be a spectrum as well a lot of deaf people can still hear something it’s just very quiet and muffled. Does he respond to anything else other than his name? He may have just recognised that you make the same weird sound at him rather than properly hear the word as his name. If he has a normal hearing test then maybe ask his nursery what they think about autism assessment but it is still quite early
