I DO wish to brag....

There's a lot of articles from young Autists and their carers struggling to find a place in the world.

And at first glance my life "status" isn't great, at all, except....

Due to my "special interests" I bought a lot of kerosine a couple of years ago and also due to my autistic insistance on finding a perfect way of getting the horrible stuff out of the big barrels, I still have the majority of it left this year... Someone gave me a battered looking Zibro heater durnig the covid time, and that sips the stuff whilst making my workshop super toasty... 

This year my workshop will be leaking heat INTO the house, rather than being a source of complaint. I am hoping that by installing a chinese air blower type heater (80 quid all in) under our bay window blowing hot air into the living room I can make us use LESS gas than we ever did before. The BIG WINNER is my home made solid fuel process. I'm now trying to design and implement a boiler arrangement that will tee into our C/H system because that stuff is free (except the labour of making it)

During Covid, we had a far less scary time than most people, because I knew what to do... And in times of gross uncertainty, we 'spergs can come into our own. (Because we are used to it, I guess!) The mask I wore, (when I wore one, during the initial stages of figuring out what was actually going on) WAS bio-certified, we LIKED knowing that viruses don't tolerate UV -c light for more than a few seconds, let alone the 45 minute screening everyting that came in got from the hallway lamp I fitted...

But most of all, I feel my Autism helps me connect in quite a meaningful way to this big, beautiful and very orange furry creature that has parked himself on my lap... 

I'm hoping some other members have examples of where their Autism works FOR them, and can "brag" a bit...

  • I just want to brag a bit more, partly to bump this (fairly positive) little thread up & partly because I did a thing and it pleases me...

    Last week I bought a 600watt "grid tie invertor" off ebay for about 80 quid, to go with the free smallish second hand solar panels I won last year. (and the dirt cheap, cracked, full sized ones I bought (cough) four years ago!) I still haven't got any sealant for the big ones but two of my little ones finally started producing me electricity that DIRECTLY REDUCES OUR grid consumption by 200watts or so during the sunny bits of yesterday. That means that when I fully deploy the large cells (I Need to seal them with varnish first) I will eventually (in the summer) generate a level of power that will produce and overall surplus back to the grid.

    The "trouble" will start of course, when we submit our first reading where the numbers have actually reduced overall, but that is still a way off into the future, and will require me to have both a reservoir for surplus electricity, and a big UPS for peak demand applications..

    Later today, our fusion group will be meeting, and since we aren't gaining any traction at all with the publicising of our helium production device, I'll be taking the boot off our chief designer & development guy who originally designed the thing to produce power, and which I've been stymying for ten years for reasons of both public safety, (I had identified the development process as not without risk of uncontrolled power excursions, and got them to focus on the transmuting aspects of the device, rather than power production) and of course, "personal safety"! (Successful energy pioneers tend to live short and complicated lives, recent history would suggest..) 

    I had planned to do the power production research myself, because our dev engineer has a less safety minded may of doing things than I do, and I don't think he understands the mechanism I see for creating a positive feedback loop and consequent sudden power excursion that I do. (we run our fusion in cycles, allowing a cool down period in the plasma between fusion events, which gives us the transmutation effect, but for power we need to run the thing at or very close to a "resonance" point, and controlling "resonance", is a complicated task, as any audio or rf engineer will tell you... 

    NEXT year, I plan to resume the actual exciting science stuff I was doing ten years ago, investigating the relationship between voltage / geometry / materials and the physical movement that results from getting it right. Ten years ago I set up some apparatus, made a graph of the results I got after careful measurement and I then extrapolated that graph.

    The extrapolated data showed me that if I arrange the materials just so, and create a waveform of a certain unusually high voltage, I can lift a model (and it's power supply & fuel source) quietly and without noise into space from our back garden! (I've GOT to have a go at that...)
