I'm not feeling happy at all...

I have Asperger's/autism, and my mental health has been in a serious decline for the last few months. Today, I just received a call from my now former employer, officially parting ways with me because of a minor anger outburst I had last week. I have never experienced such discrimination in my entire life. I feel like absolute garbage right now, and I'm considering kms because I feel that I'm a burden to society.

  • Hey - steady on there, fellow human !

It can be very overwhelming when this sort of thing happens - at any point in someone's life.

It is DEFINITELY an overwhelming experience when your mental health is already at a low ebb (as you say above.)

Don't panic !  Of course you feel like garbage right now - both NT's and ND's alike would share that feeling !

However, when we ND's are overwhelmed, our brains do not permit  us to have sensible rational thought.

Accordingly, before you contemplate any course of action in response to this experience, may I suggest that you first allow the "overwhelm" to drain away.  I'm not sure what method you use to do that - everyone here seems to have their own techniques - but you will find loads of ideas in this forum if you need some help with that.  I recommend the adult forum.  For what its worth, I also find reading about other peoples experiences quite calming and help me to put my own troubles into perspective sometimes.

You had a job before, so you can have one again.  Perhaps the new one will be 10 times better ?

If your mental health has declined - it can reascend.  Perhaps that ex-job was causing the decline?

I do hope your day improves and that some positivity can start to emerge.

Good luck - and don't freak out in the meanwhile !
