I am being referred to Maudsley Hospital for my mental health because I autistic. I have a lot of mental health issues and it's ruining my life. The mental health team I'm under did not suggest for me to referred elsewhere. I had to ask the psychiatrist and he said yes. However, it's the psychologist that's going to be making the referral. The psychologist I have is very slow and is always busy. I feel like he doesn't really care. I asked about 6-months ago to be referred elsewhere and he said no. Thankfully my GP got involved with my mental health team and told them I needed to be referred to a service that helps people like us.
I have been told the waiting list is about 2-years long. I already have a diagnosis of autism, so that may speed up the process? Anyway, I am a little bit happier to know that I will be getting the correct support (in time). In the meanwhile, I have an autism specialist job coach who's helping me find suitable employment.
Does anyone have any experiences at the Maudsley Hospital in London for their mental health and autism? I am a female. I've seen that one of their services is male-only? Is this still true?
Thank you all.
