I feel like I have personality changes due to mania

Hey, I hope that everything is alright. I am sorry for the way I behaved for 4 days. I know right from wrong, but can't appreciate the consequences of my actions, because I recently suffered from transient hallucinations and delusions for not sleeping enough. I also started to have personality changes, due to not getting enough sleep, and kind of stopped having empathy and remorse, and started to have irritability, because of that.

I just need help to calm down. I am sorry!

  • Maybe you have insomnia. There's many causes for insomnia and trouble sleeping, for instance, when I had gut and digestive issues, it affected my sleep and just I could not fall asleep, but trouble sleeping could also be caused by medication, stress, bright screens, and all kinds of other things.

Sleep gets rid of natural brain waste that builds up over the course of the day, and if it does not have time to get rid of that waste, then brain starts to function less than optimally. If someone goes a long time without sleep, they can develop sleep deprivation psychosis, which happens when they lack sleep for a long period of time, and they start to act strangely.

I would say that maybe some kind of prescribed sleep medication could help you sleep, but it's also good to try to find out what could be affecting your body to the point that it's affecting your sleep cycle, and change it so that your body gets the right amount of sleep it needs.
