Being triggered by the news

I am really struggling to cope with all the news about the war at the moment. It is really overwhelming and terrifying me.  I was the same for the last two years with the all the news about Covid and before that I used to be badly triggered by the arguments around Brexit.

I try to avoid the news as much as possible but the problem is that I work in an office where people discuss it constantly.

When I hear a snippet of news, whether it be a conversation at work, or on social media or even a headline as I walk past a newstand I get so anxious that I feel I must know everything thats going on. This leads to me frantically searching through the internet, reading anything and everything I can find. I massively overinform myself to the point where my brain completely crumbles and crashes. I know this is incredibly unhealthy and has led me to many breakdowns and bad mental health but I don't know any other way to deal with it.

Does anyone know any coping strategies for when you see something like this that makes you anxious? Thanks in advance
