had a bad day

Hi

I have been sitting in for the past three days as I don’t work and have A toddler and baby to look after so days do get repetitive, so today I got up, got dressed and I just can’t face going outside. I know I should because it’ll make me feel better but even looking out the window is giving me anxiety. It’s raining and miserable but here I am feeling terrible for not wanting to go out. I’m on sertraline for anxiety and post Natal depression, been on them 5 weeks at 50mg and 1 week at 75mg please tell me this does get easier?

  • I'm so sorry to hear this. My wife struggles with severe anxiety and this makes her afraid to go outside alone.

One strategy that we find helps is the act of commitment. So my wife will prepare the day before, get all her things ready and make a commitment to myself or other family members that she is going to go out for a couple of hours. Sometimes the simple act of committing to others can give us the push to do what we don't really want to do.

Once my wife has been out, she often feels better for it.
