Hello Everyone
I have just joined the community and I hope you are all well today!
I am a dad of 6 between 5-16 years old and we have 2 diagnosed with ASD and 2 currently being assessed. Life is rather stressful at times.
My wife has researched a lot into ASD and is now very knowledgable. I work full time and have found myself falling behind with my knowledge base. This is causing a severe strain on our relationship as we are often on completely different pages when dealing with situations.
I struggle mostly with the behavioural side of things. When you are dealing with a sibling group with ASD its sometimes like a domino effect and before you know it things are very hard to get on an even kiel again.
I am looking to find advice on any courses, online courses or books that can be recommended on how to deal with behaviors so I can help more effectively.
If I can offer anything to the group you are most welcome to ask!
Thanks for reading
Mark
Hi Mark,
Firstly, welcome to the community!
Have you come across the Earlybird courses www.autism.org.uk/earlybird There are different courses for different aged children.
Also you probably need to understand Positive Reinforcement. Have you come across this term before?
