new to all of this

Hi I am a parent of a 27 year old and to say I am new to all this is hmmmm not exactly true I have lived and I suppose grown with my daughters condition all her life, she attended a pre school for children with learning difficulties then went to a normal school from the age of 5 with help from special needs teachers, when she left school she went to college for a short period of time, then all the help stopped we were just left to cope with our situation, a short while ago we went and spoke to her doctor who suggested that she see an Autistic specialist because of the way my daughter behaves. I am now dealing with this in the only way I know how and I am sure there are other parents in a simular situation and I know it sounds silly but I really am not sure where to go next or who to speak too. If anyone has any advice or anything please share as I need some support .....thank you

  • Hi there seems we are in a similar boat albeit I have a son who has just been given a diagnosis which for his early years we thought we were dealing with ADHD now he is 27 and only today got told he has Atypical Autism which has thrown me a bit however I new for  long time in my heart of hearts it was not ADHD.

i too have struggled to get help in the past I'm now hoping to at least have some understanding and possible help when I need it now that we have the right diagnosis.  If you need anyone to chat too I will always answer a message or a post I'm also seeking any advice that can be given on moving forward
