Hi Wave 

A few months ago I went to see about a diagnosis.  The psychiatrist actually told me yes I'm level 1 autistic she won't diagnose me with it as I have a lot of strategies in place that have helped throughout the years.  Then she proceeded to diagnose me with adhd. 

Has anyone else had this happen?  I feel upset as that was why I went in the first place not for adhd.

  • For a diagnosis, autism has to have a deleterious effect on daily life. Personally, I would class having to use strategies to cope with day to day life as in itself showing that your autism is having a deleterious effect. Allistic people do not need to create strategies or work-arounds in order to to navigate life.
