Hi Wave 

A few months ago I went to see about a diagnosis.  The psychiatrist actually told me yes I'm level 1 autistic she won't diagnose me with it as I have a lot of strategies in place that have helped throughout the years.  Then she proceeded to diagnose me with adhd. 

Has anyone else had this happen?  I feel upset as that was why I went in the first place not for adhd.

  • Hi, welcome to the community. My psychiatrist recently said there was no point in getting diagnosed, although she agrees I might be autistic. I'm awaiting my assessment anyway. The psychiatrist finally agreed thst it is worth it when I mentioned joining a support group. In my area the diagnosis is required to join the group.
