Hello

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to say hey, howdy and hello. Um, I too am late diagnosis (late 20s) with Autism and it's been about a week since I found out. Its really odd to have this diagnosis as I thought I only had ADHD (which I havent been formally diagnosed with and actively trying to get a diagnosis still) and a few other learning disabilities but it has kinda thrown me for a loop.

I am excited to get to learn about myself and find ways of navigating this space and also now allowing myself to take up space.

This is just a very long winded way of me say hi and I hope that I can get to chatting with some people who... Well, get it.

Thanks for reading Sparkles

  • Hello

Welcome to the National autistic community, I hope that you might  find this space to be useful.

There is no wrong or right way to say hello, it's lovely to hear from you - I can guarantee, you are not taking up space, every voice is incredibly valid to hear from.

As you say, learning something new about yourself later in life can be quite the journey, it introduces new information to what we thought was known.

I wonder if the the following NAS approved resources might prove useful in helping to understand your autism diagnosis:

    After diagnosis

    What is autism?

Once again, welcome to the NAS community - I hope you feel very welcome here.

    Take care - Zac Mod.

  • Hello and Welcome,

I too have only been diagnosed this year, although I am little older than, well about 50 years older. So, I am also relatively new to this site. I find it a good place to visit, it feels safe and people are very friendly and diverse.

The usual advice regarding an assessment is - to take things slowly and be kind to yourself. It has me taken several months to come to terms with my diagnosis and I am still discovering new things.

I hope you enjoy your time here.
    Oscar
