Newb

Hey everyone,

I’m 38, cis gay man, currently self-diagnosed while I’m on the waitlist for something official. I’ve struggled with mental health & neurodivergence my whole life but it only occurred to me in the last 5 years or so that being autistic or ADHD was even a possibility, now that I’ve accepted it, done some digging & a lot of reflection on my past & present struggles, both alone & with a mental health professional, it is glaringly obvious that I fit into the AuDHD category.

I spent 13 years living in Australia & Canada, moving around a lot trying to find “my people” & a place I felt like I belonged with limited success, now I’m back in Scotland after two bad burnouts a few years apart, as I needed a better support system, & I’m finally realizing & addressing the reality of having a brain that works differently from most.

I’m into video games, travel, hiking, baking (pies mostly, absolute beginner), food & drink in general.

Hope to connect to some people here who I can relate to & share our experiences!

  • Hi, welcome to the community, recognising what's going on is very important and life changing. I'm also waiting for my assessment, for the final answer, wether I am autistic or something else. I also hope that this diagnosis will be a "ticket" for getting support. I wish you luck and I hope you don't have to wait long.
