Newb

Hey everyone,

I’m 38, cis gay man, currently self-diagnosed while I’m on the waitlist for something official. I’ve struggled with mental health & neurodivergence my whole life but it only occurred to me in the last 5 years or so that being autistic or ADHD was even a possibility, now that I’ve accepted it, done some digging & a lot of reflection on my past & present struggles, both alone & with a mental health professional, it is glaringly obvious that I fit into the AuDHD category.

I spent 13 years living in Australia & Canada, moving around a lot trying to find “my people” & a place I felt like I belonged with limited success, now I’m back in Scotland after two bad burnouts a few years apart, as I needed a better support system, & I’m finally realizing & addressing the reality of having a brain that works differently from most.

I’m into video games, travel, hiking, baking (pies mostly, absolute beginner), food & drink in general.

Hope to connect to some people here who I can relate to & share our experiences!

  • Hi and welcome,

I hope you enjoy your time here; I find it a friendly and safe space. There is a huge amount of more formal information available as well as the messaging from and between people.

I have received an autism diagnosis this year and it has explained so much of my 70+ years. You will find quite a variety of people here from those with or waiting for a diagnosis, to those who are self-diagnosed, parents/guardians with children in a similar situation, etc.

    Have a great time.
