Anxious new person.

Hello,

I'm normally too nervous to post online but this seems like a safe space, so I'm trying to be brave and give this a go. I hope I can add something worthwhile to the community and make some positive connections.

How have you all found this community? Please share your feelings and experiences with me if you want to.

To do my due diligence:
I was diagnosed as autistic just before my 40th birthday after a long journey of self-discovery.

I like reading sci-fi and fantasy, gaming, trying to make games, mental health, football, cats, macro photography and not having the mental capacity to remember all of the things that I like in one sitting.

  • Many stories use references from mythology and legends to make them stronger too. It's a bit of a grey area in some cases I suppose.

That's what I did. I consumed so much of that in childhood that it was an easy reference point to weave into my stories, combined with real history. When I'd more-or-less worked through major themes from Western Europe, I researched Egyptian, Sami/Finnish, Russian etc, before working back to Western European. It was fun thinking about how today's world might look if it were all real, and how that would affect society.
