I'm a retired teacher and self diagnosed. Learning more about the condition and how it affects me.

Can anyone recommend any books that help with communication?

I'm considering getting these two books. However, couldn't find any info on the author. Could these be AI generated?

    As a retired teacher myself, diagnosed 3 years ago, I would recommend;

    Unmasking Autism: Discovering the New Faces of Neurodiversity – Devon Price, PhD (2022)
    A landmark book on masking, identity, and late diagnosis, especially resonant for professionals re-evaluating their life and work through an autistic lens.

    Autism in Adults (Overcoming Common Problems) – Dr Luke Beardon (2021)
    Practical, myth-busting guidance for newly diagnosed adults, covering work, relationships, and everyday life with a neurodiversity-affirming approach.

    I found both invaluable and due to publication date, readily available second hand at lower cost than a certain online shop that generates the AI slop you found above.

    Thanks for the excellent idea. I edited the title now to book advice. 

  • He's published multiple books within months during 2026 and he has no author profile page/author info. I wouldn't trust the books. I can't help with books on autism, I'm afraid. If you find you don't get many replies to this intro thread, try re-posting with a subject header along the lines of "book advice?" and that might attract more attention to your question.

    Welcome to the community.

    I pasted approximately the first 2% to an AI detector. The result was ‘100% likely to be AI’.

    It’s not nice that people put that stuff out there - just to make money from other people’s difficulties, when they mightn’t have the first clue about the subject.
