Hello from Cornwall

I'm an autistic adult from Cornwall. I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome and ADHD at 13, although it wasn't until my mid twenties that I really began to understand and accept what that meant. Looking back, so many things suddenly made sense.

Since then I've been trying to learn as much as I can about autism, not just through books and articles, but by hearing about other people's experiences too. It's reassuring to realise that many of the things I've struggled with aren't just "me being odd", but experiences shared by others.

Outside of autism, I enjoy wildlife, photography, spending time in nature, and generally finding quieter places away from the noise. I also enjoy thoughtful conversations and learning from different perspectives.

  • Welcome to the community forum.

I've been on the forum on and off. Gained some friends on the website.

42 years old female from devon, who is a part of a group which is a friendly social group for women. No membership needed. We meet for talks, art, crafts and trips, but it’s all optional so you can just drop in when you feel like it.

Started going after volunteering at the library before COVID in 2020. I’m a regular now and still take the train to the two big libraries. I love reading — mostly fiction and non-fiction.

Craft-wise I enjoy making cards and bookmarks, and I paint ceramics sometimes.

Enjoy photography, nature and exploring different places.

  • Thanks for the welcome.

It sounds like you've found a lovely community. We seem to have quite a few interests in common too. I enjoy photography, nature and exploring different places, so it's nice to meet someone else who does.

Devon isn't too far from Cornwall either. What do you enjoy photographing most?

  • Sunsets, sunrise, shimmer and flowers. What you like to photograph?

I've got a regional railcard which helps and use it after 8.44am.

Great to meet someone else who likes similar things.
