Late realisation and diagnosis

Hi,

I had a sudden realisation just before Christmas that I might have ADHD, my GP has referred me and I'm awaiting assessment.

During all the reflection it slowly dawned on me that so e of my struggles were perhaps because of autism rather than ADHD so the GP referred me for this assessment too. Had my final appointment with a psychiatrist this morning who has diagnosed me with autism and said I definitely have ADHD traits mixed in and it's very important for me to have that assessment.

47, lots to sort out!

  • Just had a counselling session with a psychotherapist who said without me divulging it that it's obvious from the way I talk that I am autistic and when I explained how I have always approached study that it's so obvious she didn't understand how I've got to this age with nobody picking it up. Wow. You don't know what you don't know though do you!
