Processing Toddler ASD Signs

Hello there ,

Looking for people to talk to who may understand how I am feeling at the moment , my 2 year old is and has been showing signs of Autism, we are awaiting an assessment currently, back when she was 17 months i ended up having a breakdown because of this. Im just having a hard time processing and accepting this and even though everything will be fine , my brain just cannot process this and I just feel so sad all the time. Does anyone know how I can start to be ok please

  • Hi Rebecca,

    Welcome to the online community.

Whilst we wait for other community members to respond, I would like to direct you to the Parent to Parent Emotional Support Service. It provides emotional support to parents and carers regarding their autistic children/grown-up children. The service is provided by trained volunteers with personal experience as the parent of an autistic child or adult. Our focus is on emotional support and understanding what it is like for you as a parent. We offer empathy, understanding, and a safe space to talk through your feelings and experiences. To request a call, complete a web enquiry form here: https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/help-and-support/parent-to-parent-helpline

We also have guides on advice for parents that may be helpful in understanding how to support your 2 year old: Family relationships

I hope these can be helpful and you find the online community helpful.

    Best wishes,

    Alice Mod
