Hi, I am 30 years old and I have just recently been diagnosed as autistic. My first reaction was "yup, that makes sense" but I have that feeling of "what now?"

Does anyone have any advice for someone who's just had their diagnosis, or what steps you took? I appear quite highly functioning and I maybe have learned to mask a lot, but I find I'm always exhausted after work or socialising and I struggle with managing things like chores.

    My congratulations to you. 

    My assessment was only a handful of months ago and I am still getting used to it.  I am in my 70s and have always been slow on taking new things on board.

    I had little doubt I was autistic by the time I got my assessment, so it wasn't very surprised either.  However, it was a lot to absorb. My best description is it was more of a landslip rather than an earthquake; disturbing but not destructive.

    I am now looking at everything in a different way and for the first time, in quite a long life, everything looks and feels "in the right place". Even this takes up a lot of energy, so I just go slowly.  However, one immediate positive thing was that I am more chilled out and happy.
