Hello - Any younger people here - 18-25? - New here :)

Hello,

I'm new to these forums and I'm honestly just looking to connect with like-minded people. (I go on a bit so if you finish to the end maybe that means we'll get along ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ )

I'm 18, later diagnosed at 16 when I very much would have benefitted from being diagnosed earlier (I went to an all girls school where the SEND department was lacking and very dismissive whilst being bullied/ostracised - etc etc)

I've always struggled with friendships, making and maintaining, but I found that I connect a lot easier with other neurodivergent people. My closest friends in secondary school also had mental health struggles and autism or adhd. But since we've all grown a bit older we've also naturally drifted apart which honestly still hurts a bit, since I struggled a ton trying to get into colleges and fitting in. Now I'm doing online college, trying to prepare for potential uni or music college.

I was quite a bit of a 'shut-in' between 16-17 as I was getting diagnosed. My mental health suffered and so did my opportunities for making friends. I still struggle today, so if there are any other young people like me that may've experienced/experiencing similar stuff to me, I honestly just wanna connect/potentially be friends. Especially if we have common interests: (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

Music: Rock, Metal, j-rock, internet stuff, going into deep-dives to discover new cool stuff

I also play guitar and bass Guitar⋆⭒˚.⋆

Videogames: indie/rpg/horror/fantasy/fun stupid stuff

Learning languages specifically Japanese (yes I'm a bit of a nerd)

  • Hi and welcome to the community. I'm not in your age group, but I do share some of your interests.

Like you, I learned to play the guitar at the age of 11 (mostly self taught) I have an interest in languages - studied French & Spanish, taught English as a foreign language, and I'm fascinated by Japanese but only know a few words. Nowadays I mainly enjoy reading and playing video games.

What games do you like? My favourites are Sims 4, Fallout 4, Hogwarts Legacy, Assassin's creed Odyssey, Origins & Valhalla, BioShock 1 & 2 and I've just got into Stardew Valley.

I.mostly enjoy listening to classical music now, but in my youth I enjoyed punk, new romantic & rock music. It sounds like you are more into the heavy stuff - do you like I'm afraid of Americans by Bowie & nine inch nails, or India by The Psychedelic Furs? They're a couple of my favourites.
