Introducing myself

Hello,

I am new to this online community, I am hoping to soon be assessed and diagnosed with Autism, I'm a 25 year old man, my older sister who is 27 was diagnosed with Autism a few months ago. We have both shown lifelong traits of Autism, I finished Univeristy in December with a degree in Psychology, I have always felt different from other people which is maybe part of what made me interested in Psychology! I hope to get a paid job in the future but at the moment I'm on Universal Credit and work voluntarily at 2 charity shops to help me gain confidence and work experience

Thankyou for reading this

  • Good morning from America QuietThinker!

You graduated in psychology?! That’s quite an accomplishment! I can imagine it might be difficult to find work in that field, though. Are you thinking of continuing education, or do you have a plan with your current degree? I have a couple degrees in music composition, so I’ve had to be particularly flexible with how I use those lol.

    Best wishes!

  • Hello profdanger

I know it might seem late replying to you now but thankyou for your kind words. I don't want to continue education, at least not for now, I found the pressure of education very difficult. I don't really have a plan with my degree, I'm not sure what job I want with my degree but hopefully I can better decide later with more work experience. Its impressive to hear you have degrees in music composition!

  • Hey no problem, it’s good to hear from you regardless! I totally understand not wanting to continue on with education, the classroom isn’t very accommodating to everyone. I’m glad you’re getting work experience. Is that going well so far?
