new to NAS

Hi we have 11 yr old son living with autism had so many up and downs we thought we would try making contact with other parents or carers who are looking after children, young persons or adults with autism.

    Hi Nick and Les

Have you seen the local support groups for parents and carers. You might find one in your area

  • This has been a stressful week for me. I live in England. But was born and raised in Scotland and lived there for 17 years of my life. This vote is simply ripping my heart apart inside. i cant vote. like 800,000 fellow Scots living In England. I want so badly to wake up on friday morning and find im still part of the United Kingdom. I dont want to get a passport to enter my country of birth,i feel so helpless and alone.I am a pround Scotman, but im british.please dont break my heart Mr salmond.

  • hi i am a fairly recent member of this society, i wasnt diagnosed with aspergers until i was 34 years of age.My ma knew i was different, but just thought i was a quiet introverted child. I was brought up to have routine. When i was 11, a major trigger happened in my life. One of many changes. the advice i could offer is simply embrace the situation.Tell your son your special, tell him we are just the next step in future genaration. Reassure him. Dont make a fuss, accept it when he has ups and downs. Its just part of any autistic condition. Some have above average intelligence, some can quote a day, year, time, what they were doing on a day many years ago.But most of all dont panic. I had my ma to support me,not knowing what i had. Without her who knows. Your son has a a future its a bright one or maybe not so bright. But dont treat him differently. Most of all simply be there.thats my only guidance as someone who didnt know what was going on and was very scared.
