Autism and Neighbour Problems

Hello

I am new here and wondered if anyone could give me advice and/or support, please.

I haven't had a formal diagnosis of Autism, but a questionnaire filled in for a GP a few years ago was marked as "Borderline".  The GP said that things I described about myself as a young child were signs of Autism and she also mentioned Aspergers.

I have read a lot, and do think that I may have an Autism condition.

To begin my discussion, I would like to ask the community if they have any information regarding being harassed by neighbours and how they coped with it.  Did you involve the Police?  Did they speak to the culprits and get it stopped?  Did they tell those harassing you that you had Autism?  Was your council and/or Social Services involved?

I suppose what I am asking, is if you are being harassed, mocked, ridiculed and laughed at by individuals who are strangers to you in your neighbourhood, how can you get this stopped whilst keeping your Autism condition private?

Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

  • I just wanted to add a bit more to my post.  (I hope that is ok).

This morning I had a woman sitting in a car looking in towards my window.  ANOTHER one.  She was wearing a tunic top like a District Nurse would wear.  I have just discovered that she lives in the next road to me and is a Registered Nurse with her own beauty business.  These nurses all seem to know one another where I live and I am being hounded by them.

I have spoken to two local surgeries about this and they just dismiss all my concerns.  It makes me wonder if my surgery tells them to "keep an eye on me".

There was another woman who kept walking by my home with her husband and looking into the house.  Then I found her working on the reception at my doctor's surgery.  She also turned up at a Covid vaccination clinic administering the jabs and when I walked in for mine, all the heads turned with one of them laughing.

On another occasion, as I left a consulting room at my surgery, one of these nurses was in a nearby room with the door open.  She saw me and loudly called out my name and was laughing.  I just felt it was inappropriate and unprofessional because for all she knew, I could have left the consulting room having received bad news.

Am I wrong for moaning about this?
