Hi I'm Jess ️ I'm from England and super recently got my ASD diagnosis.
Nice to meet you.
Hi I'm Jess ️ I'm from England and super recently got my ASD diagnosis.
Nice to meet you.
Hii thanks.
I'm sorry you had bad experiences with your postal pen pals. I had a pen pal when I was 13, I think? I can't remember when exactly but I really enjoyed talking to her. She was from China and we spoke for a while.
Was great because I had no friends at school but I felt like she was a friend and we spoke daily.
What books do you like reading? I enjoy reading but because of my ADHD I struggle to remember characters names and bits of the plots and it makes reading frustrating.
I like colouring though! I spend a lot of time drawing and colouring.
Nice to meet you!
Hi Jess,
You're welcome
Prefer digital letters (email, social media, or forum).
All ready got success in finding new friends on the forum and we chat on social media.
Trying to find more female friends who got the same interest/hobbies.
I was bullied throughly my life
Enjoy reading fiction and non fiction. There's a book exchange (in an old telephone box); no late fees or registration fees. Ive found some interesting books. Prefer teen books as its easier to read. You could write down the character names and the plot in a notebook.
What colouring books do you have? I Enjoy coco wyo as its bold, easy and really good images. Coloured pencils. The books ive got are: girl moments, cozy cuties and comfy corner.
Takes ages to get a colouring palette sorted. Take my time and don't force myself.
What do you like to draw?
I pop along to Ladies Friendly when I can it’s a relaxed women’s group with talks and crafty bits. Afternoons work best for me since 6pm = dinner time Only do evenings if there’s BBQ or Christmas dinner involved.
I find social media bit toxic as well. Ages ago my Facebook got out of control and started again. Now limited myself to two people on there.
Absolutely fine for messaging me on the platform. I'd accept your friend request.
Definitely going on Monday as its pre booking only.
Yes that would be so lovely! Thank you. We could message here if you're ok to - I don't do social media as it's such a toxic environment. I got really triggered when I used it briefly.
If things go really well maybe we could eventually write to each other if you're cool with that
That's cool that you write to your family as well. I'm literally the only person I know who does this. It's nice to know I'm not the only one!
Thank you for the tip, that will be so helpful lol because I'm always wrecking my colouring books by staining them with pens. I always try to use pencils but I forget a lot!
Her books are soo good.. I've read nearly all of them now. I especially love the sleepover series of books. Highly recommend them if you haven't read them.
I haven't read Harry Potter yet but I really want to. They're meant to be so good! I have seen all the films and the Fantastic Beasts trilogy but apparently the books are the best so they're on my to read list.
Shame about your library. I'm lucky with mine, it's open every weekday except Friday and it's open Saturday morning until 11 I think.
Will you go on Monday? That sounds nice, and I'd definitely be tempted for the cream tea lol
Would you like to be my pen friend? Even though the age gap is 24 years? I accept digital letters, forum or social media.
Think we got things in common. At home my family sends me messages about newspaper articles.
I haven't bought those bears you colour yourself. A tip is to have plain paper behind the image you want to colour and should stop bleeding onto the next page.
Jacqueline Wilson I'd read girls in love, girls under pressure, girls out late, frankie and lola rose. Giving Harry Potter a go. Unfortunately our local library is only open on Tuesday and Thursday. Shame.
The group is varied each time. Some people only go only once and suggested membership. The next one is on Monday afternoon which is a cream tea (scone, sandwiches and cake);
I prefer chatting digitally, I find it easier than physically communicating with people. At home I send WhatsApp or write on paper to my mum more than I talk to her in person.
Congrats on making friends here! I really hope to have some friends here in the end if all goes well. I have no friends irl and it's pretty lonely and crushing. I had no friends at school but at least I saw people daily even though I didn't interact with them - I miss seeing people and being around them.
I hope you make more friends.
I think we like the same types of books. Have you read the Jacqueline Wilson books? I grew up with hers mostly and the majority are written for teens. You'd probably like them. I love them, really fun adventures and sometimes I can relate to the characters she's written about.
We don't have a book exchange but we do have a community library.. the old one closed and the new is in what was the old doctors surgery.
Yeah that's what I try to remember to do, writing characters names and places down. I do it for films as well.
Oh nice that's cool. I have a lot of Disney and animals colouring books. I always colour with pencils, I love the pens but they always bleed through the paper and ruin what's on the other side lol.
Have you ever bought one of those bears you can colour in yourself? I really want to get one for myself.
I think that's key you got to take your time and be patient. If you rush you'll make mistakes and get frustrated then it's not as fun.
I like drawing Disney characters, especially Stitch and Angel.. also like up draw animals, churches, steam trains and characters from films and TV.
Your group sounds nice. Are there many people? I don't think there's a group near me but if there was I think I'd be too anxious lmao. It's nice you have that outlet though, sounds like it's a lot of fun for you and that's what is important.
