I am new to the site. My 8yr old son has just received his diagnosis. Even though it has taken 4 yrs his school have given lots of help after an initial hickup. His reception teacher would not support me in my concerns and reported that he was above national expectation with his social development. However within 3 wks of yr 1 his techer asked me to come in to school to discuss his progress and was concerned that the reception teacher had not passed on my concerns as he definately had issues with interaction. They have maintaned regular contact with me and together we have implemented several strategies to help him. However even with daily occupational therapy techniques with senTA he has just began yr 4 more than a year behind. he has a new teacher who wants to have fortnighly meetings with me to help to boost his attainment as he is very bright but cannot get information on paper at the required level. If they do not work he could be 2 yrs behind by year 6. should I ask for the educational psychologist to return for a sen assessment?
He is very well behaved at school but can change as soon as we get out of the school gates, I will be using the strategies I have already found on this forum.
I an also concerned that my sons behaviour issues are beginning to be directed at my 14 yr old son and not just me and dad. My eldest son is very concerned about this as he doesnt want his brother to hit him and doesn't know how to react. Any advice?
