New Here

Hello,

I was diagnosed with autism in March this year.

I am pleased I finally have answers , but I now feel I have been left there is no support where I live I live very rural, GP cant offer anything because of where we live , I feel very isolated and alone, I don't drive and struggle to get out as there is nothing here, I have no friends and my family don't live nearby, I also have anxiety, is this normal after getting a diagnosis, trying to process everything, but I just find myself getting emotional daily and struggling.

Thank You

  • Welcome!

Yeah, unfortunately there isn't always a lot of support post-diagnosis, which does make it hard. I think for some of us, having to look online for support is the only option.

I did find the NAS page if you haven't read it yet,

    https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/diagnosis/after-diagnosis

And of course, I find this forum useful, and hope you can too.

I think there might be other things if you can find them online, but it depends on where you are in the country! (Scotland for example have different things to England, and I imagine Wales and Northern Ireland do too?)

I hope you can reach out and get some support, it is hard isn't it.

    Best wishes.
