Hi!
I am new here but not new to ASD. My daughter is 15 years old and diagnosed formally when she was in primary. She has struggled for years with social communication and meltdowns but recently the OCD and control over me has become more and more prevalent at home. She can lash out at me and I find myself stepping on eggshells around her. Generally, she is a very good kid and studies well and achieves well (perfectionist and high achiever). Unfortunately, I have lost my identity along the way and many friends and I find it now just to be me and her. It can get lonely at times but I try to stay as positive as I can. My family don’t understand and I seem to get remarks like ‘she rules your life’ and they can be quite patronising at times so have distanced myself a lot to protect my well-being.
I am really just looking for other single parents of teens so I can chat on/off and provide support aswell as gain support.
If there is anyone in a similar position, please let me know!
